The color authorities at the Pantone Color Institute have recently elected the 2015 Color of the Year: Marsala. “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability,” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone, said in a recent press release. “Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala it’s name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while it’s grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.” Each year, Pantone declares a different hue as the chosen one for the next 12 months. It’s not just a random decision on a color that they think is pretty, though. The Pantone team of researchers extensively studies trends in a number of industries – predominantly fashion, but also economics, film, sports, technology and art – and also travels around the world and takes note of colors they see around them. A color is chosen based not only on popularity but also as a reflection of current global sentiment and socio-economic conditions. A great way for your brand to appeal to customers this year is by incorporating Marsala into your promotional products. You will show that you can participate in trends while also playing into the scientific aspect of color choice – the hue was chosen as one that is popular and feeds off of people’s surroundings.
